My name is Sandy, and I am the co-founder and art director of Pellvetica. My love for pattern began as a child, when I fell in love with spirographs, kaleidoscopes, and prisms. I began to combine the geometric shapes and reflective light streams into complex drawings. In elementary school, I studied the fine art of Pysanky, Ukrainian easter egg design, carefully pouring hot wax onto eggshells, then setting the dye between colour dippings. I later studied traditional henna tattooing, India inks and mixed media to allow for advanced creative freedom and exploration behind the body of work you see today.
This illustration style has become integral to Pellvetica. The artwork is heavily based off our beautiful nature, geometric shapes, and mathematics. My partner Steve and I collaborate together and create graphic design for fine art prints, large-scale murals, apparel and more. By day, I manage corporate communications for Hootsuite, the world’s most popular social media management dashboard, where I painted some of my favourite murals including Owl Eyes.
